    HEXUS.reviews :: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

Someone asked me in the run up to launch, "is this the most exciting graphics chip of all time?" It didn't take long for me to answer yes, and I still say that today despite knowing (well, I think so at least!) a goodly chunk about what ATI have coming. It's a shift for the company that marks the end of four years and nearly half-a-billion dollars of engineering effort, research and development, and the end result is by far and away the fastest and best-looking graphics board ever driven in a home PC.

can i just say wow, look at those game fps' they are awesome, the fact you can run everything at full with all your aa and stuff and still get over 100fps on a single card is mind bogling!

Just imagine SLI -- OMG!! NVidia again leading the way

I just wish i could have one of em with some quad core action

Looks amazing.. and i assume it'll be even better when Vista finally comes out

Just imagine.. a Core 2 Quad, 4 gigs (or more ) RAM and a couple of 8950XXX's in SLi (i'm guessing they'll bring out improvements) XD

Out of interest - how does the G80 compare with say, the xbox360 GPU?

Silly fast graphics card with almost 700 million transistors

According to the PC format , X-box 360 's graphic card only support direct x 9.0c.

    Now that is simply awesome.

Bit of a strange time to post up a review and I noticed the site slowed down a bit once it was up!

Excellent review, well done guys. Now, how to get the money together to get me one of those!

Xenos is more than a D3D9-class graphics architecture, by some distance.

But does this mean that PC is coming back on top? (not counting PS3)

What do you mean not counting PS3? This monster creams the graphics in the PS3 (or any other console).

Aye - PC has always been on top. PS3's GPU is nowhere near as powerful as G80.

"You won't find anywhere else with as in-depth G80 launch coverage as here at HEXUS"

That's a bold statement. Firing squad have done a much better job imho.

Great review from my perspective. Very informative with the right level of complexity.

As for the G80 cards....what mroe can you say. Simply fantastic. Gonna pick me up a 8800GTS as the 8800GTX has too much of a price premium. Gotta get my Delll 2007WFP as well...no point splashing out on the 8800GTX just to run it on a 17" CRT! LOL!

Nobody does, and as a Vista user and 8800GTX owner I'm not very happy about the situation at all
