broke my qtech 8310 (or imate sp5)

    But its only the LCD.

How? I was a pillark, i dropped it out of my locker onto the hard probably varuca infested chanigng room floor, which showed no mercy.

Despite no outer cosmetic damage, the lcd has cracked, and as such, renders the smart phone useless.

Luckily thanks too the brillaint remote debugging tools (WM5) i was able to pull off everything (even txt msgs). So i'm not too vexed if i have too through the phone away.

But anyone know where i can get a replacement LCD for this? If it requires surface mount soldering, as i don't have the time at the moment anyone know of any good repair firms?

What network you on? I think Vodafone has the option of sending a phone to be repaired, I would be surprised if other networks don't do similar things. That said, the quality and timeframe of the repair is questionable, and I don't know, but I think it usually gets sent to the authorised service centres, dunno if imate have any in the UK?

Worth a try, though only likely to work if you are on contract.

Drop it in at carphone warehouse, theyre generally ok. However, if you can locate one, its only a ribbon connector. cnn.cn are generally good for stuff like that, but unfortunately they dont carry the part.

Quick search on ebay throws this up:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-LCD-Screen-...ayphotohosting

Having said that, the sp5 isnt a tytn. but theyre all very similar.

hmm i'm going to just buy some second hand cheapy thing to last me till my contract expires, this phone is over a year old now so can't be that far away!

That does look very similar herulach, but problem is i don't really want to spend £70 on something i'm board with. Think i'll just punish myself for been stupid with a cheapo phone for 2 months, then get a new contract!

I really dislike carphone warehouse. I'm never going near them. Even if it means using string and tin cans. Its preferable.

I've got all my data off, so i'm not that worried, think i'll just get a cheap-o talk n text jobbie tommorow/monday. Guess i should just learn to be more careful about how i look after my mobile!

the w220 is a very nice little phone, and can be had for about 30 quid if you shop around.
