    New phone for the wife.

I'm thinking about getting a new mobile for my wife for her birthday so I'm in need of some advice.

I'm looking for O2 pay as you go with handset costing about £50. I think she'd like something a bit girlie, but nothing in shocking pink or anything like that. The main thing is that it must be easy to use.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks BUFF.

She already has an old 6230 (non "i") but it's about three and a half years old so it's quite battered and scratched. Is the 6230i much of an improvement?

I never had a 6230 so I couldn't say but my mother recently got a 6230i & she seems happy with it so it must be easy to use.

Nokia 6070... probably pick one up on PAYg for about £40. Nice little basic phone.

Why not get either a Pink Razr for £49.99. Or if you want to stretch, the Gold Samsung E900 £89.99.

DEpending what features she needs (probably not video playback) i dont reckon youll go far wrong with:
    pebl
    or a w375 (pink)

The colours arent as bright as they look on the site, and you get £30 (iirc) off if you spend more than 40 quid on shopping.

    Some interesting ideas there. Thanks.

She'd really like to keep her number. Can you transfer pay as you go numbers in the same way as contract ones?

Take the sim card out, and stick it in the phone. If it needs unlocking, you could either do it over the net, or take it into a phone shop for around £10.

OK, my wife has decided that she wants to put some cash in herself to raise the budget a bit and has her heart set on a Samsung E570 (in pink).

It doesn't seem like this is an easy phone to unlock and she still wants to stick with O2. I can't seem to find this phone on an O2 pre pay deal, and the best sim free I've found is on play.com.

Has anyone seen one of these on O2 pre pay, or a cheaper sim free version? Am I wrong about the unlocking being hard with this phone?

Just my two cents but take her down the carphone warehouse and get her to have a look about to see what she likes and they'll even let you test as many phones as you like but I'd suggest a V3i and yes I am bias,
