Yeah, remember at thats pretty much the minimum you would pay for a phone that doesn't even have 3G!

Re: there is still lots of iPhones for all londoners no need to queue up

i posted this because i read in google news that there were people who queued up in london just to get it (i really dont know why) anyway we all here hope they know too LOL!

in other news o2 said "We don't have any official collated figures yet, but what we can say is that the sales are more than exceeding our expectations, and our expectations were pretty high"

    REALLY I dont think so!!

Sounds a bit like the PS3 release doesn't it. A few hard-core fans queue up for the photo-shoot and press release of 'great sales figures', but another overpriced product will be sat on the shelves for a long time.

do you consider that a good or bad thing?

i dont think google have ever made anything that was crud/bad/evil/etc (ok, on the crud front you could count google base)

no, i think google is a very smart company...and i am sure the technology behind the phone will be great but the company itself slowly moving away from its origins (i am thinking about "don't be evil" concepts etc)...sorta like what happened in the novel animal farm...(hmm offtopic here apologies)

so i think my stance is wait and see...

Read up on it. It's basically Linux for mobiles but google have donated a load of money. Bear in mind it isn't "Google Android" it's just "Android". Google are just helping (alot) to fund it. It's totally open source, you'll be able to download new tools (like you can with desktop sidebar and stuff), i can't see a downside!

I just upgraded my phone to a Viewty, and in 9 months i'm allowed another upgrade. Should be just in time for the decent Android phones at a reasonable price!

i am sure it will be good - but i thought google actually brought Android - so android is google but of course what Android itself is doing at the moment might be open source

there is too little information about this at the moment...

I don't know that they BOUGHT it, so much as invested in it, in which case they only hold maybe 50% of the descision making power.

maybe we are talking different things but all the news reports say they brought Android, Inc (the company behind "Android software") - which mays they have either majority control (51%) or extraordinary control (at least 75%) shareholdership AND must have directors on the Android Inc board

As for the "Android" software, they have invested money for this project...well they registered trademarks for it already...
