    Recycling old phones

I have six old phones ranging from a Nokia 7110 to 6100, 6110s and a 6021. They are all still working and I don't really want to throw them away. Is there a charity/recycling centre that will accept them?

    Re: Recycling old phones

Thanks guys! Envirofone reckon they're worth £50 all together. Better than a hole in the head I suppose. I was just going to bin them!

    Re: Recycling old phones

The supermarkets also take old phones and give you points in return plus a donation to charity.

Although you will probably get more from someone like Envirofone

    Re: Recycling old phones

I sold a load of my old phones on ebay, got £55 for my old 6630 and £30 for my 6280, would sooner sell them than give them away (thats my personal view though)

    Clean it up first then

I've found popular phone models tend to hold their value quite well. The motorola razr series were all worth a fair bit when I sold them a year ago (had a few around the house). A used phone in good condition with a manual and charger is worth a fair bit.

    Re: Recycling old phones

The Tesco one is pretty good, £45 for a K850 and 300 Clubcard points or £3 to charity. I think that's better than selling on eBay not least because I despise eBay but I think a charity is much more deserved of benefiting from an old phone than eBay.

    Thanks!
    Simon

    Re: Recycling old phones

There are plenty of recycling websites that will *recycle* your phone... when they say recycle they actually mean they will sell them in third world countries for a profit

Always get more on eBay, but can be so much hassle at times! Those websites barely give anything money wise

    Re: Recycling old phones

Many local council recycling centres have links with non-profit phone recycling projects, mine has an
area where they collect phones, chargers, etc and then they get shipped out to the third world where
(hopefully at least) they are donated and not sold.

    Re: Recycling old phones

First of all, i appreciate your noble thought on mobile recycling. I recycle with <removed> and I get my cash within three days. They accept both working and non working phones, of course not for all models. Do check it out with them for their terms and conditions.

    Re: Recycling old phones

If you arn't bothered about getting money for them nip into a Voda shop and there is a bin type thing with Sienna Miller on it which you can put your old phones in. Every week we empty it and send them in for recycling.

Phones that are dead and of no use are broken down into their components and parts are re used, good ones are flashed / tidied up and sent out to 3rd world countries for use out there. Doesn't matter make, model or age.
