    3 data usage ?

I have a contracted 3 broadband dongle, with 15Gb usage monthly.

I can't find anywhere on the website to show me my current usage,
all it says is "you haven't used up your 15GB yet".

Well thats all well and good, but how do I know when I'm ABOUT to use it up?

The PC dialer app records it per PC, but this dongle is used in several PCs...

So the question is, is there some place on the 3 website I haven't noticed showing my current download stats?

    Re: 3 data usage ?

I have a three contract with 1gb usage. if you go to the login page when connected on mobile broadband it sort of auto logs in with a status page of how much you have left. I don;t use it allot but i have noticed sometimes it will stay at 1gb for a few days then suddenly drop after a few days. From my experiance it is either not accurate or just takes ages to update. I do believe you can request a £0 credit on your account so you cannot go over. This is what 3 told me.

How well do you guys find it works? I have a 3 contract with internet but on my HTC TYTNII it's damn near unusably slow. 5 minutes or more to load a web page.

    Re: 3 data usage ?

I do only use mine at the coast in a caravan I have installed an external antenna due to signal dropping in and out abit but with a good signal its fairly good.
I use virgin broadband at home so you cannot compare it really for speed. I think its the sort of thing thats ok for use when out and about but i would hate to use it as my main internet connection.

I have used T-mobile / virgin mobile on my HTC kaiser and that was very poor hsdpa. the connection had to be dissconected and reconected all the time.
I'm now on o2 which is allot better but still sometimes have to reconnect.

I had a Vodafone dongle and that was fantastic, I just think it depends on where you are in the lovely UK.

    Re: 3 data usage ?

from what i've seen around people seem to recommend trying them on pay and go then decided whats best. i get a poor three connection at home but vodaphone is brilliant but you pay more for vodaphone. but at the coast where its used 90% of the time vodaphone and t-mobile get poor to no coverage.

most of them will tell you what they recon their coverage is, if they are confident, they will normally offer you a 14 day cooling off period, if it doesn't work, you just send it back paying nothing.

    Re: 3 data usage ?

Im on a 5gig rolling contract sharing between 2 people in london, and its great. I have had to stop torrenting mostly, but by using adblock+, flashblocker and disabling images i get full day usage with no fear of going over so never check usage. Having said that, the proprietary app that comes on the dongle has a link to my3 which will give you a fairly accurate reading (though yes, updated rarely).
What I do is log my usage each time, I've got used to it now. London speeds are good I get 200kBs, although sometimes the device will decide it doesnt want to connect for now.

Wouldn't recommend 3 as they have terrible customer service with offshore call centres. *shiver*
