    Iphone Unlocking Advice

    Morning
I have the opportunity of buying my mates Iphone 3G 8GB for a reasonable amount (£150)
He has had the unit only 6weeks - it was a warreanty replacement! So it's in 'as new condition'
So it seems like a good price - however I am on a sim only agreement with Vodafone.
What is the best and most effective way of unlocking the Iphone so I can use it with Vodafone?

There is a website that I have found here:

    http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com/?gclid...FUkB4wod4VLpkQ

Sounds good - but is there a permanent way that it can be done?

BTW the reason my freind is selling is down to the fact that he is upgrading to a 32GB model - and the £155 was what car phone warehouse offered in p-ex.

Also is it worth buying the Apple skin - or are the cheapo ones pretty similar?

    Thanks

Regarding the unlocking - Don't pay, you can do this yourself for free.

Thanks Chris - My mate has just called into )2 and they are doing it free as he is starting another contract. However I have just found out that Vodafone are wanting £25 per month for a sim only Iphone compatible, compared with £14 per month for my current sim only.

Any tips on a better offer for a Sim only deal? I really don't want PAYG BTW!

£25pm doesn't sound bad really for the iPhone

    SIM only though.

The £20 iPhone SIMplicity deal isn't bad, same as the usual £20 deal but + Wifi and Visual voicemail, need to ring them & get through to someone who knows about it though

Hmmm - that does look good. So for £20 per month I could have unlimited Web,email Access,Wifi and
600mins + 1200 texts (the web thing is a 'free bolt on')
Me thinks I may be jumping ship to 02 from Vodafone - I imagine 02 is generally pretty good service in terms of reception?

I've always found it good, depends on your area. 3G isn't as good as the likes of Orange though but it's always swings & roundabouts with mobile networks You can't sign up straight away to the iPhone deal, sign up then switch over, maybe check with them first as I've not done it but plenty of others have (check out Hotukdeals thread on it)

I've got the iPhone 3G and my 18 months was up this Jan... over that time I found that reception was generally very good but there has been times when o2 was having internet problems and so they were outages for a few hours at a time... think it was a combination of iPhone/blackberry overloading their networks! But generally, good service!!

Never had any problems with reception (for making calls) in my area, however I very rarely get 3G/Edge (only GPRS). If you are interested in using it for the internet, then if I were you I would definitely check the 3G coverage in your area.
