    Arrow Dell Streak

Just wondering if anyone else is trying the Steak like me?

Initial thoughts are it's a fantastic device, great big screen, but might be too big to be used as a main phone device.

My initial thoughts are, despite the smaller screen, I think I prefer the Desire....

I had a play with one in an O2 store today, jesus they're big! Wasn't overly impressed with the OS which is putting me off other Android handsets, I take it the later versions are much improved?

    Re: Dell Streak

I guess I'm used to the iPhone too much, everything only being a click or two (at most) away. Obviously I'd get used to it but it just brought back memories of Winmobile (not in style, more in 'feel')& I shudder at that thought!

HTC handsets with Sense, and most other phones sporting Android 2.1 are much better.

    Re: Dell Streak

Had a play with one in the O2 store on Saturday. Nice device, but way to big for a phone. If you had a suit you could pocket it, but normal jeans/trousers? Sure you would get a few looks ...

Is that a streak in your trousers or a folded iPad?.... Either way having both in your trousers sounds a bit dodgy!

    Re: Dell Streak

It's not far bigger than the HD2 which i never had any problems fitting into any pockets of any kind...

Im sure XDA-Devs will get 2.1 on it, which makes the device quite tasty.

I'd say it's noticeably larger, the HD2 is just about pocketable, the Streak to me is too big as a phone, not big enough for a tablet-style device...I do like it though & would happily accept a free one but wouldn't want to talk on it walking down the street!

XDA won't touch it sadly, not a HTC device. It's down to Paul at MoDaCo, and while he's really good it's worth noting that a port of Froyo would be just that, it'd be portrait like a standard mobile. The first port of call for updates for the Streak will be Dell I think.

Had a play with one in an O2 store and found it to be quite good. Screen is really nice, destroys the one on my iPhone and the size (for my uses) would be far better. I barely call people and when I do I've generally got headphones in anyway so it's just a matter of buying an in-line mic.

    Re: Dell Streak

I guess my other main concern is battery life. I've given it three full charges now, I left it at home for the day and when I got back 12 hours later, it was on 22%. I think my Nexus was still at around 55-60%

I would disagree there. With Widgets, a lot of information is zero clicks away!
