Best launcher for Android

Hi there!

I plan to buy an LG Optimus 2X but saw that the main homescreen icons are a bit "bland", too common and a bit childish.

I'm looking for a really good (free or paid) launcher to change the look of my main homescreens and stuff.


any advice please?

I use launcher pro and fancy widgets on my SGSII. works for me.

You can spice up any homescreen with a good selection of widgets. A good place to start is someplace like MODACo, there are often post your home screen threads.

ADW launchers are solid stuff, currently using the TWlauncher (built into custom rom on my O2x atm)
Theres so many launcher though so best advice is to install one play around with it for a bit and if you dont like it try a different one (try free versions first!) end of the day its your own preference .

I'm sorry but i'm not into custom ROMs or rooting my device. i just want a clean, features-rich, straight-forward, free (or paid) Android launcher. that's all. :-)

You can get a Sense like ook using a good widget, rather than a complete launcher. Have a look at fancy widget or beatiful widgets. Both can give a very sense like look.

Go launcher has many free themes which you can download through the go store (which is installed when you install go launcher) i only say its OK because its slow on my san Francisco but it will prob be great on you LG

My stepson's shoved GoLauncher on my old HTC Magic (which I gave him when I got an O2X) and it's very smooth on that, despite it only being a 523MHz Arm9 cpu. He seems to like it, and having peered over his shoulder it's got some very funky effects going on... I keep wondering if I should try it, but I'm not sure I could live down having the same launcher as the boy

Another vote here for launcher pro. You can make it as nice and minimal as you want, and there is plenty of support for different icon sets etc. Its nice to also have swipe gestures on each icon on the bottom, which effectively doubles what you can access. Means that you dont necessarily have to clutter your screens with shortcuts if you want the minimal look.

I have ADW and Launcher Pro - I use Launcher Pro on a day-to-day basis as I just didn't find ADW intuitive enough and prefer some of the widgets available with Launcher Pro and it's extremely stable.
