    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

Bear in mind that as soon as it is reported stolen by the owner the IMEI number will be blacklisted across all networks so it will not be able to be used as a phone.

He will not be able to hook it up to itunes either as it will be registered to the owner.

Do the right thing and hand it in to the police, contact the mobile network it is connected to (you can get the mobile number from the settings I think) or contact the last number that dialled in or out.

End of the day people do get prosecuted for keeping found phones, it is classed as theft and handling stolen goods.

Possibly amongst the most ridiculous threads I've ever seen on Hexus.

Surely asking for ways to hack a phone is against Hexus forum rules?

Sucks for the person who lost it. Now he's actually going to keep it HAH. But he's hesitant on turning on the phone, because what if the user has an app that allows it to track the where about of the iphone 4. Is there a way to wipe the iphone 4 and re-activate it without it being tracked?

Sounds more like a discussion to defend a morally indefensible position . I'm surprised you even think about posting something like this on HEXUS given the very public stance we make about legality.

If your 'friend' finds something of value (I think tthe threshold is £10) and he keeps it, he is depriving the owner of it - and that is theft. No two ways about it.

The fact that he is worried about an app that tracks the 'phone shows that he knows it is a morally indefensible position, as well as being illegal.

My daughter lost a phone while she was out, it was found, and the person finding it called a home number ion it (from a land line, not even the lost phone) and returned it .

Don't judge others by your friends morally low standards.

Have a couple of days break to consider what your friend should do.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

Some of the things on here i read...nearly as bad as some of my own threads!

Anyway my gf lost her phone, it was a w995 shortly after they were released so still a nice new flashy phone. Anyhow she had left it in a local pub and luckily for her a nice chap gave me a call (babe in phone and the most recent contact) and we went a picked up the phone, of course we rewarded him buy buying him a pint and on our way we went,

basically yes slap your mate and tell him to stop being a douch and return the phone, imagine it is a phone that belongs to a girl and has "naughty" stuff on it, her bf and her will argue and all sorts due to this...just think about it! (well tell your mate)

Saying that i've a feeling it is you who has the phone.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

I dropped my old K850i a few months back at a county show. I realised before i left the show ground, and spent a good 20 minutes retracing my steps and ringing it, but couldn't find it anywhere. I left contact details with the show organisers etc, but was convinced some little scrote similar to your mate had picked it up and was congratulating themselves on their new phone. The phone is probably worthless, but the hassle of losing my numbers and having to get them all again was really annoying me.

Lo and behold, the next day i was at home with the missus when her phone rang with my name on it. I answered it and could hear some faint vices and shuffling, the old bloke who had picked it up was trying to figure out how to use it to ring me! After a bit of shouting to get his attention he said he had found it at the show ground and gave me his address to collect it. I took him a bottle of plonk and we both parted company very happily. I'm sure if he found another phone he would try just as hard to return it now, and the few quid i spent on the wine was nothing in comparison to the hassle i could have had to deal with!

Until you lose your phone, you'll have no idea of the annoyance caused by it, and how happy having it returned will make you. Returning that guys iphone might be the best bit of news they have had in days, and you might get a drink out of it too!
