htc wildfire wont power up

acording to my sister the power buttion has stoped workign, what happened is she got a text from her kid, tryed to unlock it with the power/unlock buttion witch did not work, so she thorght it crashed and needed a reboot so she took the battrey out, what she put it back in she could not power up the phone with the power buttion, is there any other way to power up this phone ? and would you aggree the power buttion is busted ?
edit the battrey is charged and the light turns green if i plug the charger in

Would seem so, take it back to where you got it and get it repaired under warranty.

Is it still under warranty? If not, contact HTC. They're quite helpful and they try to resolve problems ASAP. I had experience with their CSR when I got my Desire z
