Pretty much the wp7 apps like xbox live and zune marketplace and i know there's a feature where you can stream content to and from your xbox live profile. What do you mean by RAM data filling up with data? Is the apps only on the ram for the duration of when the app is in use, or is it when their installed and it will stay there until their un-installed again?

Nice reviews/points there. I have been waiting for a semi-decent Nokia for a while tbh, but unfortunately managed to get rid of my desire for a sensation. I really wanted this though and might even sell up if i can get a decent price.

How is the unibody material in terms of holding the phone? By that, I mean does it feel quite 'slippery in hand? I used to have a HTC legend briefly and found that was very easy for it go flying, if you weren't beign careful.

Also, are you finding the camera? As good as Nokia usually is? I'm thinking low light/indoors here. I used to love my N95 - best cameraphone I've ever had tbh, nothing else has come close to it since.

As some of you know, I'm a tight barstard when it comes to my mobile phone spending.

So £30 upfront, 12 months, £20 pcm. Total cost of phone and contract £270, including data txts and enough calls that I seldom go over it.

Now whilst its not a dual core, or more importantly imsnho an ultra high res screen, I think its fair to say this is obviously the best deal on the market right now. WP7.5 doesn't need high end hardware, it runs merrily on the <1ghz devices.
Did you speak to the T-mobile CS or was that an internet deal, I am due an upgrade soon and like the look of the Lumia, I'd be happy to stay on my deal if it was another 12 months and free phone

I spoke to CS rep as Im on a business deal, best they would offer me is handset for £200 12 month contract £25 month for 600 mins so I ended up going for the HTC sensation xe free handset 18 months for £30 pm on the same terms I was on with Flex 35. Ill try a windows phone out once it has matured for handsets but for me it was too much for now.

It feels different, its not rubber, but its not metal, but it doesn't feel like cheap plastic, its easy to grip, but it isn't sticky. Hmm hard to describe and I'm not very good at it

I'm not impressed by the camera, but its a phone camera, so I wasn't going to be impressed. Its OK performance in doors, certainly a step up from the Omnia7 camera, but I'll still bring my k5 with a 50/1.4 if I want pictures. So I wouldn't hold it against the phone, its definately in the above average bracket, but phone cameras are just ****.

I spoke to them on the phone, I didn't even have to ask for the PAC code.

The RAM is the "in use" memory, it is data that is kept on hand for near instant retrival. In the classic description its like a juggler juggling the balls of data, rotating them round constantly, so any ball is almost always to hand. The problem is if he stops juggling (power is cut off) all the balls are dropped and lost forever. This is in stark contrast to the librarian who painstakingly accurately files each ball away, they have all their balls safely stored so if the power goes of it doesn't matter. However the librarian is a lot slower. In the case of most smartphones they use 'flash' memory (Electronically Erasable/Programable Read Only Memory, or EEPROM, yes, I know it says read only, and its not read only, this is how engineers name stuff.).

So I'm complaining that I think the bottleneck is the speed of the flash memory, the librarian is too slow. Thats because people when looking at smartphone specs look at the size of the flash memory not its performance, most of the loading time when opening an advanced game is only how long it takes to copy the memory from flash to RAM.

No the apps are only allowed to use RAM whilst they are running, some apps can register for events, which means they can be brought back to life by a certain action (such as an new instant message) but they aren't by default even allowed to keep running when the phone has the lock screen on.

so i'm guessing the way wp7 manages application tasks is that the current app will have priority using the ram. And the other apps in some sense are dormant until they are selected as the next current app to be in use vice versa. And i would guess in a sense its energy efficient keeping the current app use the most ram if need be. And the other apps will be in affect on standby

Well its not so much a case of priority, as a certain amount of exclusivity.

Most applications do no multitasking at all, some allow for fast resuming to exactly where you left off, this is all explained here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=vs.92).aspx

The important one is when its tombstoned.

Does anyone know of any good deals for this sim free? My HD7 is full of fail at the moment, not being able to play tracks from zune without completely locking up the phone and HTC seem to have no interest supporting their product so I want to jump ship. See this thread for more info about the lock ups -> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...2-5c7a44746390

I think if that problem is the one I've heard about it is actually caused by your headphone jack (no joke).

If you use a headphones supply by HTC with your phone, do you suffer the lock up? There are some issues with the manafacturers implementation of the control buttons, which creates a massive selection of button presses when used by a regular 3.5mm headset.

I've also not heard of anyone selling the phone as cheaply as you can get it on contract. I would give the likes of t-mobile a shout, and see if you can get the 12*20pcm with a £20 upfront fee, that would be better than any sim free deal right now. I think to please the network operators, allow for good in store presence, nokia are letting them have a very high margin on the 800.

I'll have to wait till i get home to test that theory. I'm on contract with o2 for another year, hence why i was looking for sim free. The best i've seen is with phones4u but that was still £400

vs the <£300 including calls, txts and internets.

I reckon they are hiking the price to please the operators. The production cost of the phone is penuts.

Amazon are pricing it at £399 sim free now:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nokia-Lumia-...5938557&sr=8-1

Price is coming down, but can't help feeling this is still too high.. well for me at least! With the Samsung Galaxy S3 coming out in about April time, they'll be more price cuts soon, IMHO.
