Weird problem with the Facebook app

My daughter got an SE Arc S at the weekend (to replace another SE Android phone) and she's got a strange problem with the Facebook app.

Basically she couldn't post any messages, comments or status updates. Someone on the Sony forums suggested clearing cache etc and that lets her post comments. But she still can't do any messages or status updates via the app.

I'm out of my depth here because I don't use Facebook. Anyone out there in Hexusland got any suggestions (other than "don't use Facebook" or "use the web version" - because I already suggested that)?

The upgraded version of the Facebook app is terrible. I had nothing but problems with it. go to setting>applications>manage applications and go to "all" at the top. Then find Facebook on the list. From there you can revert to the original version of Facebook which came with the phone. This worked for me. Obviously you may not have updated Facebook then what I have said is pointless sorry

It works on my tablet, but is worryingly slow. Always get a "not responding" alert, but if I "wait" it eventually syncs and works - after a fashion.
