Galaxy S II on ICS - battery drain?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Basically when at home I have WIFI connected and the battery is not an issue.
When I go out, I forget to turn off wifi and the battery drains quickly.

I assume this is because the wifi ap is constantly trying to connect to any signal so never goes into a low power state.
It never did this on GB, and is very annoying if I forget to turn it off.

mine doesnt really drain faster than it did on GB since the ICS update, did you factory reset before and after the update ?

that seems to clear most problems, the best method seems to be the reset code

make sure everythings backed up before you type that as there is no prompt just a factory reset.

I might have to do it.
I never did the factory reset as I didn't want to lose anything.

thats the problem then m8, just an updates not enough due to all the leftover GB code.

as for apps they are all stored on the google market, check the phone settings as auto restore usually takes care of putting those back. otherwise you can install them from a PC on the google market.

there are apps to backup texts and call logs, copy the memory card content to the pc. so long as your contacts are synced with google they are all safe as well.

A factory reset should sort it out.

Make sure your contacts are synced with Google and then you can use something like MyBackUpPro or Titanium Backup to backup your user apps and data so you can restore them. Be careful you don't backup and restore any system apps and data, that can cause problems.

I also had to disable chrome tilt scrolling and disbale push mail on exchange - but finally I have my s2 battery life to something near acceptable !

the official 4.0.4 rom is giving me great battery life after a couple of days, i found one wakelock causing issues related to the hotmail app and disabled calender sync on it, since then 2 thumbs up!

I'd highly recommend using a more stock google ROM - samsungs ROM looks just like 2.3 did (pants) and the whole phone feels far faster/looks better without all their carp. My wife was massively disappointed by the update as it looked just the same and nothing like my GNexus.

I think we used F1-GalaxyNexus-GalaxyS2-20120417.zip off XDA if I remember rightly..

I've not rooted mine yet - so running stock O2 4.0.3 at the moment. did all sorts of wakelock hunting , disabled a bucketload of unnessesary syncs too.

tbh i ditched the tw launcher and installed apex launcher instead.

I had this issue too cos I didn't want to wipe my phone completely before updating

no wipe and you will have lots of problems.
