So, even with the iPhone and the Macbook being out of warranty?
No, only when i was in warranty, however Apple are 'ok' with out of warranty services if its clearly an problem intrinsic to the design of the hardware. Power supplies are a good example, i think they still replace magsafe power bricks for free because basically... they suck!

I agree on both points.
I have noticed at least with Apple products there seems to be a greater tendency to gloss over issues(have been in workplaces where Apple computers are common),which I just find plain weird, considering that at times it was me suggesting fixes!!
Compare that to other brands/companies products, where criticism seems to be more acceptable.

I agree Cat the 5th. Apple workers/employees i think are living in Mars. They just either don't care about people's perceptions/comments/concerns/suggestions or they just don't care at all. How can they say that they havn't heard of such & such issues wherein if you Google these issues its all over the interweb. Wreaks of ignorance and arrogance.
I have been making suggestions to Apple ever since the iPad 2 came out and all they did was copy some Android features and sue Samsung. The hypocrites!
I have a feeling the effect is similar to that of when the sun shines in someones eyes, due to the shiny. With Apple product it is more like: "Avert thy eyes from any issues!! Look over there instead, slay the PC/Android/Microsoft/Sony/Moose/anything else!!" It seems people have sunglasses for other companies products!!

Oh, well. I suppose as long as they make good products, have an excellent after-sales service/customer/tech support and make them devices cheaper then i'll be fine with it.
If the iPad mini disappoints this October then i'll eat my shorts and buy a PS3 instead. And a Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 is incredible it's fast, responsive and will get all the latest Google updates as soon as they come out. Also the iPad mini is just a rumor and it would be virtually impossible to compete with the price as the iPod Touch is more expensive.

ANd any thoughts on Nexus 7 rivals...the Acer Iconia A110, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Archos XS 8" tab and the upcoming Lenovo 2107?
im very tempted by the Nexus 7, mainly for PDF files where diagrams matter (coursework stuff) rather than text. Also thinking it might be better to wait for next new tablet on the block as I personally dislike Apple products (ipod Classic was last good product they had) and the hype that goes along with it (am fairly careful to avoid the reverse, but becoming a samsung fanboi, scary). I would prefer a larger tablet than the 7" offering, but feel the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Tab 2 aren't really up to the mark atm, with Ipad and Nexus being the only real players in the market atm. Hoping something comes along soon to change my opinion.

The trouble with the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the so-so battery life, the UI overlayed to Android OS is very similar to an iPad and the below average screen resolution. so, yes you might be right in saying that its not up to par yet. The top dog right now is still Nexus 7 & the iPad.
i would prefer a slightly larger screen. Anything from 7.7"-8.0". Beyond that i think it is bigger. It would be interesting to know more about the Lenovo 2107, any "update" to the current Tab 2 lineup or even the Archos XS 8' tab.
I would go for the Nexus 7, bang for buck its amazing. If you like to tinker you have custom roms and lots of scope plus with an OTG cable lots of extra storage capabilities too.

I don't usually agree to JB'ing or rooting a tablet. i would rather get the real one.
You know I'm now gearing more towards a realy good, hi-spec, first class Android tab like the Nexus 7 or the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Seen the specs of the the upcoming Acer Iconia A110 and the Lenovo S2107 and they are good albeit the low screen resolution.
Heard that the ICS 4.0 update for the rather good Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is now live but i don't know if that info is accurate.
And as a side question can one transfer files from a Mac/PC to an Android tab wirelessly now?
I got a nexus 7 and I wasnt to sure about it till i went away to Athens and found it such a help, like when i got off the bus and had to locate the hostel or looking for places to go, it was simply excellent!!.

These chinese-made Android tablets are quite tempting with all their "latest" tech mixed into one like the Ployer Momo8 and those NOVO Ainol ones. Worth the risk?
Stick to Asus/Google, Motorola or Samsung?
