I'm looking for a tablet £300 Max. Suggestions?

Hi all i'm looking to buy a tablet as a present for someone! I've got no experience with tablets as i'm a desktop person. I'm looking for quite a large tablet not huge one though. They will be doing work on it but not heavily but i assume they will using it for fun apps etc. £300 max any suggestions helpful.

A nexus 7? A nexus 10 if there was another £19.

Or perhaps a ipad mini?

Do you have any idea on what would be adequate storage space or screen size etc?

I can probably stretch a little more and i was thinking around 10.1 inch and the memory space at least 16 GB which i presume is standard now?

I have had a 3rg gen ipad 16gb for 6 months and just bought MRS Syd an ipad mini for Xmas. Tbh I now struggle to put the mini down, it's sooo good in the hand, so light and a perfect size. No the screen is not 'retina' but after using the mini for a while you don't need the extra res of the retina, it's just nice to have. In brief if I had to choose between them I would go with the mini. As an adid the other larger samsung tabs are also heavy, and I personally found the nexus 7's screen ratio (16:10) too tall and just a little too small whereas the 7.9" 4:3 screen of the mini is just perfect. The anodised back also feels great in the hand and it is no problem to hold in bed reading a magazine for some time (unlike its bigger brother!!)

After much debate on what she would use it for we went for the Nexus 7 which i got for £160 new absolute bargain(saved me some money). Cheers for the advice people!!
