The incompetence of 3 / three network

I requested a sim from them 4 weeks ago, as I wanted to try someone else as I am tired of gift gaff and it's Flaky network. Three are the only ones who can come close to their unlimited data - I am a heavy user of spotify, YouTube navigator etc..

First sim never turned up, so I order a second one three weeks ago, this one turned up but when I tried to register it on their website (sim number + phone number on the credit card bit) but it refused to register, saying the number was wrong. I tried several times with different types browsers and even computers. Still wouldn't accept it.

I tried ringing them, my god their menu system is freaking appalling, I thought Santander was bad but they have you going in so many circles it's ridiculous... But I eventually got through to someone. After a solid 15mins of going round in circles (are there any more numbers on the sim card? She kept saying... Aaaargh!) with her she eventually chirps up with the sim is for a dongle, not a phone. When I explained the paper it came with made it very clear it was for a phone she just said it must be wrong...

She eventually ordered me a new sim card, after spelling my name and address in everyone combination except the right one.

Fast forward to today, it arrived and I tried it all again only to run into the problem of the numbers not being recognised!?

I don't have the life force available to ring them again, so was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this?

    Cheers guys

Walk into a shop and get them to register and give you a sim card?

Re: The incompetence of 3 / three network

On the occasions that I've been without ADSL I've used three 3G dongles on a one month rolling contract and my experience is much the same, trying to get anything done over the phone is a nightmare, they are next to useless. That said, the people in the shop are great, save yourself the headache, just pop in and get the sales assistant to sort things for you

The phone support is inconsistent, really depends who's on the other end but I can't say I've had any issues, I remember years back I had a phone go dead after a month and they sorted everything out very quickly.

Phone support can be a ball ache but my iphone 4 died 20 months into my contract so I got to upgrade early. They cocked the bill up and added an extra charge instead of waiving the upgrade charge so I got the upgrade and 2 months line rental free.
