Microsoft still following the old hardware to sell software model. That said, not a bad idea from both sides.
Well it was only a matter of time before the plant did his trick of making the company ripe for a buyout....
I hope the Nokia brand is kept for phones and tablets, which seems likely. Leo Kelion's quote on the article has a point, I wonder what this means for other companies such as Samsung, HTC etc who are backing Windows Phone? I want HTC to stay in the Windows Phone market personally. Also, I think Elop could be on the fast track to the top of Microsoft with this latest move.
I doubt HTC will bother much further with WP. Samsung make surprisingly good WP handsets but don't seem particularly fussed about selling them. Nokia have sort of got it sewn up for me.
Does this mean MS are also taking over the production of symbian/cheap handsets? To be honest, not that I know anything about this kind of business, but I would have thought it was worth more than 5 billion Euros personally.
