My official cable broke, but I still have the plug. What do I replace it with? All the 3rd party ones get poor reviews and google dont seem to sell a proper replacement. This is ridiculous!

Its just a micro usb cable. Any reasonable quality one will be fine (i.e. anything thats come with a phone recently). Shonky chinese ones may struggle with the current, but my nexus 10 charges happily on the cable supplied with a gen1 kindle.
Checking with the manufacturer can usually help: http://eshop.asus.com/en-GB/catalog/.../category/463/
As said above any reasonable quality micro usb cable will do fine.
I use a mixture of cables from my S4, Kindle, Anker battery, 520... whatever I have at hand depending on location

I recently bought 2 of these.
They appear to work perfectly fine, also I have not actually sat down and measured the charging rate with these cables.
I need a longer one as the one you get out of the box is tiny.
im using my other samsung phones charger to charge my nexus 7 r8 now..... so any charger will do the job.....
