Cheap GPS mapping device / micro pc for cheap?

I want a portable GPS map with long battery life for around 20+ pounds.

I have found a Navman portable car GPS has a battery life of about 3.5 hours on ebay for 15-25 pounds, the garmin kit is nearer 2 hours battery life.

Please recoomend some kind of micro PC / iPaQ / touchpad that has GPS and better features and battery life than Navman?

    alternative suggestion

    cheap android phone/tablet + http://www.navmii.com/gpsnavigation

phone/tablet just needs a gps chip. my memoHD7 picked up satellite in 30 seconds pretty accurate within a few meters of where car was. theres a walking mode on it aswell but I haven't tried that yet .

If you can sort out a suitable cheap phone with Bluetooth, which can also run a suitable logging/mapping application, you can have my Holux GPSlim236 for the cost of postage if you like. It still has the original battery, and I don't know how long it will last, but I can do a runtime test it if you would prefer. Allegedly they can last 10 hours with a fresh battery, and they take Nokia Nokia BL-5C batteries so can probably be had for peanuts on ebay.

Re: Cheap GPS mapping device / micro pc for cheap?

I've just sold a HP iPaq RX5720 PDA Travel Companion on Ebay for £5. That is a useable gps device and difficult to beat for price. I upgraded from that to an secondhand iPaq 314 Travel Companion, which has a much better screen only to find the battery life is rubbish and it requires a special high power usb charger - not recommended.
I'm now using a Nexus 7 which is much better, but more expensive. I also considered the Asus Fonepad, which is a similar price and is also a phone.

Woah that sounds like a good deal! the other one on ebay is £95 and there is only one on there, looks like a rare ipaq gem. Yes i'm still on a quest for one. Trying to balance it with the driving lessons, so i might get a cracked one and fix the screen

Sounds like you already have GPS kit, wouldn't an external battery box for your existing kit do what you need? Just how much battery life do you want?

Re: Cheap GPS mapping device / micro pc for cheap?

    I had a QTEK9100 running Windows Mobile 5.5 (ROM-flashed to 6.5 hybrid) with GPS.
Cost me a few squid off eBay, but worked great. Battery lasted days.
Same for the SPV M5000, although those are always pricey.
Still have both knocking around, the latter in mint condition.

Then I joined the 21st century and got a 'smartphone'.
