Can this be set to auth over WiFi ?
Yes, it's very simple,
1. turn on wifi
2. run activesysnc
I just tried it on mine and it worked a treat
I shoot things with a Canon
Make sure you set allow ethernet connection under connection settings.
Then once set as allow ethernet connections resync in cradle and voila should then synce wirelessly.

hmm tried this with no luck :|
Is there any software updates I might need to apply?
The only latest version is 3.8 and it can be found here ;

David,
your wifi mobile device needs to be on the same network, you can't do it "stateless" over wifi, you have to do it as a network sync with the mobile device on the same network as the computer.
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, just though I'd remove the easy problems
It is Inevitable.....
Hmm I am running 3.8...
... also it is on the same network - just doesnt seem to see it :|
bloody annoying
Can you get the PDA to connect to network for other use e.g. Internet etc...
HEXUS|iMc
Yep it works for net surfing
Still can't get it working
Can you do windows update on a PDA?
no windows update avaliable.
remember you need to enable allow Ras and Network Connections. It will try and connect via computer name. So check that you can ping your computer whilst on the wifi LAN
if in active sync connection settings has the network option clicked and you can localy browse to the computer from the device then it should work, i dont know if a firewall or somthing could have effect on this tho.
Make sure that you have RAS enabled and you have the WiFi connection set to Work as well as the internet
