XDA Exec / HTC Universal users?

Bought an XDA Exec unlocked just a few days now, loving it all its a brilliant pda, fast and does everything I want from a phone and then some, and unlike most people its bulk doesn't bother me.

Only gripe im having is signal reception.
I'm running the latest o2 rom in corporate mode, with the latest radio it seems 1.09
    and I'm on Orange.
My signal reception however is very poor in school, making gprs sometimes completely unusable, in various classrooms I have no network coverage whatsoever.
Does anyone think this is to do with Orange, do they have shady coverage or something?
Or could it be to do with the radio stack im using or rom?
Any universal users here on orange, or possibly over networks who could make any comment to point me in the right direction to more reliable coverage, whether it be a rom upgrade, or network change.

It could just as easily be the fact that you're inside a building with a steel frame. There are areas in our office where there is simply NO coverage even for standard phones, and reception overall is very poor.

Dunno, someone else in my class had a samsung d600 on tmobile and he had full coverage, while i meanwhile was on 1-2 notches on windows mobile, which according to voice command is approx 40 - 60 % coverage
but moving around the room, can cause me to lose coverage completely
Another has some old nokia 3310 or something on orange, and he too only gets 1 bar but his phone is really old so he thinks it might be that.
