    Broken Screen Nokia 7370

My OH has broken the screen of her nokia 7370, 5 months into the contract.
The contract is with O2 via CPW, is there any chance of a replacement from CPW ?
If not, Any reputable place to get the screen replaced ?

    Ta

If you haven't got insurance on the phone, it is unlikely that CPW or O2 will replace the phone. Home insurance plans do occasionally cover mobile phones though, so it may well be worth checking there, but be wary of the excess charge.

Just out of interest, when you say the screen is broken, do you mean the plastic lens or the LCD itself? The lens itself shouldn't cost more than £15 for a genuine one, and is easily replaced, but availability is low as far as I can tell. The LCD itself you can get for around £30 on ebay for a genuine Nokia part, and it isn't much harder to replace than the screen. The only tools needed would be a heavy guitar plectrum, and possibly some fine tweezers. If you are interested I think I might have an illustrated disassembly guide somewhere.

If you don't want to do it yourself, try your nearest Nokia Service Centre. They're independant repair shops, but Nokia audits them twice a year. Look at
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,77483,00.html to find one. Or, finally, you can post it to Nokia for repair by downloading the form at http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,76918,00.html , look at section two.

    No.

Well, took the phone to my closest CPW shop. They quoted me £40 but needed to send it away. ETA 2 weeks.
I hope they stick to their £40 because I ain't got it in writing!

    Thanks for the replies,

Well... Good news and bad news

Good news is got the phone back with a new screen and they charged me £40

Bad news is that you can see that they forced it open as there are marks in the back cover behind the screen and they messed up the swivel mechanism, now going either way when originally it was only clockwise,

Back to the shop for some explaining!

£40 is fairly reasonable for a retailer, but not if the handset has come back marked! This shows the ineptness of some of these repair centres, as they shouldn't need to prise the handset apart to get to the LCD.

    7370 Cracked LCD Screen

I have the Nokia 7370, and I have accidentally cracked the LCD screen. I have already purchased a replacement from eBay, and I have started disassembling my phone, but now I am stuck. I read that you replaced your LCD screen, so any instructions to guide me through this would be very helpful.

It seems it should be easy, but I am nervous to touch something I shouldn't or to break something...

    Thanks.

If you read the whole thread, I had it done as it was easier/safer. Sorry I can't be of more help!

yeah, i noticed that, but since I'm a U.S. user, and it's a European model, Nokia can't do anything about it here...and I'd like to try it on my own before sending it off...thanks for responding!
