I had that problem (on a Desktop), and was told it was a corrupt registry entry, it was fixed by doing the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us

It says XP but it works for Vista as well...

Try disabling the wireless through the bios and see if it'll pick up your wired...

I'm not too sure, I installed Vista with the DVD Drive that wasn't being picked up in "Computer", but it was listed in Device Manager...

there's no harm in trying it

Well i did try it, and it didn't work.
I finally managed to find the device manager in vista, and it seems that drive is listed but there's a "!" sign next to it.

There, it says that it can't find the drivers for it, or that the drvers are damaged.

I guess it will work if i reinstall the drivers, so I'd search them, but i still can't connect to the internet with this damn laptop :s

hmm... mines was listed with the "!" next to it, until I did what I linked to above, which as I said fixed it ...

why don't u find the drivers with the computer ur on the now, then cut them to a USB stick and put them on ur laptop that way
