    Advanced Account Restrictions?

    Is it possible to set up Windows XP Pro user profiles to allow access to certain programs? At the moment a machine is set up with one account with admin rights, and two advanced user priveledges. The 2 advanced user accounts however cannot successfully burn DVDs, as they get an account restriction error. It works fine in the admin account, but letting them have admin accounts is not an option.

    Is there a way to either run the DVD burning program as an admin every times it is run (like Run As User but permanent), or change their accounts to allow access to this program?

    Thanks

    You might be able to give them access to the program by going to the properties of the folder of the program and then assigning full permissions for each of the accounts to the folder.

    It will then ask if you want to apply permissions to all child objects so hit YES.

    This MIGHT work as it will give them admin rights to the program and all dll's etc that are within the folder.

    It is access to the cdrw drive that windows xp blocks. I have come across this before, but couldn't find how to fix it, I didn't really have the time to....

    The problem is Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not grant access to low level drivers which are needed for burning.
    What you using to burn? If it's Nero 6 you're in luck

    Burnrights let's you assign burning rights to users without giving them full on admin access.

    I was going to suggest nero and the relevant update - but Jiff got there first.

    It's not a case of program permissions, it is indeed driver issues, as jiff stated.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
