Can MCE support freeview signal and an analogue signal such as cable simultaneously?

    Hello

As above really. I've run a cable from the loft antenna down to my ComproT750 card for freeview which works fine, but I also want to set up my PC to be able to watch Sky Sports from the Virgin box downstairs. The TV card can theoretically do this no problems, but does anyone know if MCE will support both signals at the same time so that I can go from one to the other as if I were flicking channels?

    Many thanks.

Nope, you're stuck with either digital or analogue... I assume cable/satellite would be the same.

I assume you could set MCE up to use freeview and something like MediaPortal to use the another signal though. I know MCE lets you choose which tuner (or which side of a dual-tuner) to use, and I'd be staggered if MP didn't allow you to do the same.

MythTV can support multiple tuners, if your tuner card(s) have linux drivers available it would probably be a good choice.

Can it take analogue and digital simultaneously though? MCE can take multiple tuners - but I don't know any that will let you work with both signal types at the same time.

T750 drivers only support DVB-T in MCE afaik.

I've posted this question elsewhere also, and the concensus was that the only solution is to use a different program for the analogue signal. So it would appear that in fact MCE cannot in fact support digital + analogue at the same time.

Thanks all. That's also interesting, TheAnimus, what you say about the drivers for the T750 not supporting analogue in MCE at all. Didn't know that!

i was talking about mythtv, since that's what the quoted message related to

like i said, not supporting both at once is an arbitrary and stupid limitation
