    Parts donation thread...

So, following on from my project...

Who's got time / leccy / parts they could donate?

    List them here e.g

If you've got time to build a rig one weekend, let us know when that might be and we'll see when we need to amass parts. Or ifyou want to test some parts and send them on that would help too.

If you're willing to run a second (or third) rig to donate your leccy, let us know where we can find you, we'll use the hexus hand-me-down way of getting it to you (passing it from one member to another) - again, if you can drive and can drop a rig off at a designated point that helps too. (It won't have to be running 24/7 - mine will be a weekend folding machine only)
I suppose we could pass them around say each month or 2 (I'll keep tabs on which rig has what parts from whom) so that not only one person is lumped with a bill.

If you've got spare parts that you're willing to donate, list them here. anything that will go into a case needed!

Do you think we can make this work? (I'll have a harder think about this tomorrow night and get organised) It'd be a fantastic community project if we could!

    Re: Parts donation thread...

I'll have a dig about at some point and see what i have.

I know there is two 8gig Maxtors in a box somewhere. Should be big enough for an OS install

Might even have a few small (2GB) 2.5" drives floating about too. easily get linux on there...

EDIT: got two cases sitting in my hall actually. here are systems in them, but i can't remember if they work or not.

Away up in Shetland again for another couple of weeks. I'll get more details when i get home.

    Re: Parts donation thread...

Unfortunately I don’t have any decent parts to donate, but I do have quite a few cables lying around (Sata, eide, etc) so if anyone needs those just tell me. I also have an Antec Tri Cool 120 MM fan available, which could be useful if the computer is continuously folding, and thus producing lots of heat.

    Re: Parts donation thread...

Well, I could send in that 160gb disk, but seeing as there are smaller disks il hold on to it.

I will have some parts in January once my quad core upgrade is complete. Parts will include an A64 3200, a soltek 939 mobo, some DDR (might stick a gig in my shuttle, so probs 1gb of it), stock HSF or possibly my evo33 as I might change HSF. I would be happy to donate the lot.
