    Youtube on ubuntu...

.......doesnt work properly on linux, i get this:

things all screwed up on the play bar, the only button that works is the pause one, and if i click it more than twice it makes the whole area go grey,

basically, what i THINK i need, is a flash player plug in, because other things, like image copying from photobucket doesnt work either, you can usually just click the box, and it automatically copies it, but it doesnt work, so what i have to do is right click and copy....that doesnt bother me so much...its just youtube, anyone know how i can fix this?

somtimes the video doesnt play at all, somtimes it doesnt even load it up at all..idk what to do tbh...i tried searching for a flash player in synaptic packet manager, but came up with very little...so...any ideas?

    thanks

    Re: Youtube on ubuntu...

you're using an open-source flash plugin named gnash

switch to the official closed-source adobe plugin. there may be a package for your distribution

    Re: Youtube on ubuntu...

load Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager)

ensure all software is available - go to Settings -> Repositories and ensure all four of the top boxes are ticked. if not, tick them, click close, then click reload

scroll down to the box for "mozilla-plugin-flash" and mark it for complete removal. scroll down further to "ubuntu-restricted-extras" and mark it for installation. then click apply

you'd need to restart your browser at the very least.

visit aboutlugins and paste everything from there

i suspect you're on 64-bit, which doesn't install the flash plugin along with ubuntu-restricted-extras. using synaptic, install flashplugin-nonfree

    Re: Youtube on ubuntu...

a package installation was interrupted, which may explain why things are acting funny.

open a terminal (Application/Accessories/Terminal) and run "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
