windows live messenger problems

installed fine, then got an error code, which apparently was quite common, so went about uninstalling it, then when tried to reinstall it using the "wlinstaller" the windows live installer says it cannot install the problems and says messenger and sign in assistant not installed.

tried everythin i can think off....anyone know of any fixes?

btw running vista 64 bit home premium..
