Question Help with ghost image Bootable???

I have a Ghost Image of a work PC HDD saved on a portable USB HDD. Only problem is that the PC i originally imaged has been formatted by some noob! So need to restore from the backup we have made on the USB HDD.

Problem is that the image file is just a .GHS .GHO File which was made by Norton Ghost and not bootable. I need to be able to have a bootable version of this image on DVD that can be used for all the PCs at work but do not know how i can burn this ghost image to a DVD and make it bootable?

Need to burn the disks at home as there is no access to DVD-RW drives at work.
Any ideas would be great full

    Cheers

Normally you'd create a bootable image *including* Ghost, but if it's not on there then you need a Ghost bootdisk. There are a few free Ghost alternatives - possibly worthj checking one of those out?

Do you have the Ghost CD to hand? I'm pretty certain it's bootable.

I think it only makes it bootable if you chose to create the ghost to CD/DVD. If you save to another HDD then its just an image, which is what we have got.

No the software is on the works network.

How do you do that? That would be useful as then i could carry it all on my USB still.
I have Norton ghost 10 and a older version that can be used in Dos.

http://www.mikesparr.com/2006/02/04/...-floppy-drive/ might help - it's a guide to making a bootable Ghost USB key, but most of the principles can be applied to booting from hard disk.

Re: Help with ghost image Bootable???

If you are intent on using this at work I'd suggest you get the corporate version of Ghostand use Ghost Console and Ghost Cast Server to create and deploy images over your network as it will make your life so much simpler. I have 1 machine on our network that collects images of umpteen different PC's and can redeploy them in a matter of minutes - saved my bacon many a time!
I'm pretty sure Ghost Cast Server will let you redeploy the image you already have.
