    Best freeware Web authoring tool

Is there a modern Web authoring tool to rival Microsoft FrontPage 2003 but one that is freeware (or shareware at a reasonable cost)?

I'm looking for something that can produce WYSIWYG Web pages and show me the HTML behind them, allowing me to add applets, scripts, etc.

I already have MS Office 2007 Enterprise on my PC and the nearest app that can do Web stuff is MS Publisher but that's not quite what i'm after.

NVU is essentially kompozer. But NVU's development has stopped and the new releases are under the name of kompozer.

I use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express part of the Visual Studio 2008 Express suite of applications from Microsoft. I find it very easy to use and free!

Thanks everyone! I didn't expect so many suggestions. I'm going to try all of them out over the weekend. I appreciate the help.
