Hello,
today the new ati driver 8.11 screwed up and displayed some random dots all over the screen.
since its xp i had to reboot.
i thought ok i will go to device manager and use the rollback driver feature.
i clicked on roll back driver rebooted when asked to.
then on the reboot it told me driver not found point to the driver. the folder it pointed to was C:\ati\support. yes thats right the temporary directory ati extracts the drivers to.
Since each driver extraction folder is around 50mb i deleted the folder a few weeks ago.
I assumed when you installed a new driver windows backed up the old driver someone incase you needed it. seems i was wrong... i mean what a crap idea pointing to files in a temporary directory..
has anyone else noticed this?
so i had to cancel that. i decided to uninstall all the ati graphics stuff and then rebooted. eventually after a few reboots it installed some ati drivers from 2006. works fine now.
