Anyone know why, on virtual pc, it says "attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode". I'm running 64bit virtual PC on 64bit vista. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt

Because virtual pc gives you a virtual 32bit processor, i Believe, meaning that you cannot run 64bit version in virtual pc.
Is VT enabled in your motherboard BIOS? If not then enable it.
This may not fix the issue for VirtualPC, but it should for VMWare Server or Virtualbox (both of which are free)
Virtualbox downloading now. Cheers.
Well, that got further.
Then got this error.
Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist.
Which means it didn't download properly :@
Downloading again now.
Aha - that's strange. I had the same problem with Server 2008 R2, which basically amounts to there being no supported storage controllers available. I got around this (and it's a faff, believe me) by installing Vista x64 in the virtual machine and then running an upgrade install to Server 2008 R2. This was despite having re-downloaded the ISO numerous times direct from Microsoft as well as verifying the SHA1, so I don't think it was a corrupt download.
