XP Pro activation

ok, so I got a new GFX card which wasn't compatible with my mobo so I got a new mobo.... this had an intermittent fault which I only managed to narrow down after THREE complete re-installs...

So I get another new mobo, this installs without a hitch and now bloody XP Pro activation syas I've exceeded the number of activations allowed for the product key I'm using!!!!

This is a genuine copy of XP Pro I bought about 18 months ago!!!

How happy am I????

I really, really, hate that product activation thingie.

Fair makes me want to go completely Linux, but: I like Games, and I'm too lazy.

Yeah, last time I tried that XP wouldnt give me any code to punch into the phone... so they essentially told me to pee off!

I tried the automated phone in tonight to be told that I needed to be transfered to an advisor, got transfered and listened to the message telling me they were closed and I should ring back when they were open.... I hate Bill....

There's a limited amount of times that you can do online activation. I think it's three, after that you have to phone up. It happens to everyone

Yeap - I've had this a few times as I test quite a bit for work occasionally so the insides of my PC are always being butchered. I rang the number they gave, explained the scenario and they just asked who I worked for the usual chatty stuff they ask

Now heres the wierd bit, Everytime I do the online activation, no matter whats in the PC it is now always authenticated.
