windows recovery, any ideas?

I rebuilt my pc into a new case(and did some major upgrades at the same time). When I try to boot to windows, it asks me to activate it(which I expected). When I tell it to remind me later, it seems to try to boot into windows but shows the background and nothing else and I can't access anything. I found a program called windows recovery on the windows disk.

Anyone know how to use it as I think my windows installation may be damaged/corrupted. it gives me some commands I can run in dos but I don't know which to use.

If Windows is damaged or corrupted, you may be better off backing up all your data and completely reinstalling Windows.

Re-installed windows, and same prob.

Finally found the prob. As my network card was not configured, I could not activate windows. Phoned microsoft and activated it via automated sys. Now all working.
