    Winxp + win7 DUAL BOOT

I have windows XP on disk 1:
I installed Windows 7 on disk 2 on a hidden partition at the time (no drive letter - win7 called it C: MOVING XP TO d WHEN in that OS).

bootmanager couldn't find ntldr recently rendering XP inaccessable. I used XP disc to reinstall XP - this allowed my original XP to work again - I used bcd to remove entry to new install. But now I can't see windows 7 on boot loader.

I'm using easybcd and it can see there is windows 7 but it cant load it.

So do i give win7 partiton a drive letter and then point to it. Or can i reload win7 via win7 dvd, run easybcd from there and point to XP?

I installed W7 on a separate drive and then changed the bios to boot from the W7 drive, it then 'sees' XP and gives you the option of booting in W7 or XP. Please also note that if you boot into XP on a regular basis it will remove any restore points on W7. To get out of this predicament vist here:-

    Hope this helps

Re: Winxp + win7 DUAL BOOT

Thanks I didn't know that. I dual boot and both get regular usage although given the choice lately family are opting for windows 7.

I used windows 7 disc to repair startup. Took a few times before it worked.

My problem was my motherboard has an old sata controller which requires floppy drivers before windows 7 will see the drives. But its working for now!

Glad you got it going, I'm still triple booting with XP, Vista and W7 64bit, but most of my stuff has now been transferred from Vista, so now I can delete this and free up some space on my drive.
