    start|run|mmc
    then file|add/remove snap-in|group policy
    that should be it.

So the plug in is not even there to choose? You logged in as Admin?

If its disabled due to policies then that means you dont have access to it i.e. someone has restricted access to it.

Of course, there is a possible workaround involving locating a folder within the win32 directory called something like gpolicy or something (I forget) and changing the security permissions to DENY read access for your account.

This way it wont be able to read the security policy denying you access to the MMC snap in.

That is, of course, if they havent restricted it elsewhere.

p.s. I will have a look when I get home for the correct path on XP (if thats what you are usin)

Is this machine authenticating against a domain?

If so then your group policy is dictated by a domain controller and you won't be able to circumvent it, plus it will refresh the policy (by default) every 15 minutes if you did manage to alter something.

If it's a standalone machine and you don't have admin rights then you may not be able to do much about it either.
