    What forum software?

    I don't know if this is the right place, but I guess I'll ask here as I assume it's where all of the web designers look....

    Basically, I've got a website and I wish to add some forums to it. It won't be used by many people (< 50) but it needs to fit the following criteria:

    • Free!
    • Fairly easy to use
    • PHP/SQL based
    • Secure - I don't want people hacking in, if possible!

    So, what are people's recommendations?

    Thanks.

    phpBB would be my number 1 choice.
    Fits everything you've asked for

    On a side note - software is only secure provided its kept upto date. Most software has security issues at some stage, if you dont patch it, thats your fault

    until they make you pay for it.......the head coder of InVision has already said its gonna be a fee based board.....

    I don;t disagree they have done alot to it, but its not going to be long till it requires hard earned to have one......

    Our survey says: "eeeeeh uuuhhhhhhhh"

    Invision is cack. Im sorry, but its incredibly poor.
    I have to say PHPBB > invision.

    VB > PHPBB > * > inivision
    That is the correct order in my opinion.

    I'm never inclined to believe somebody who uses the greater than sign in an argument.

    What reasons do you have for your opinion?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Users experience?
    Have you never used an invision board? They just make navigation and everything really awkquard. I have tried both, as admin and user. PHPBB just seems to be so much better layout and general use. (I know you can change layouts with skins etc).
    PHPBB just seems to be a complete proper product, unlike invision which looks like its just been hacked together by some guys in their spare time and just tried to polish it a bit.
