Main Rig: i2600k@4.3Ghz/ASUS P8P67 PRO/MSi GTX580/16GB Mushkin/HAF X/Noctua NH-D14
Supposedly Q3 of this year....
Mind you an AMD64 works very nicely on 32 bit too.
You can download a trial version which lasts for a year...

We could start a sweepstake along with HL2, Doom3 and dare I say it.. Duke Nukem forever?

It wouldnt suprise me Kez, tho i have no idea. I wouldnt be suprised if MS will make use of the fact that its an all singing all danceing (in their eyes) 64-bit version.Originally Posted by Kez

well the price will no doubt be through the roof, but check ebay I managed to get a fully boxed Win XP Pro still sealed for £30 when you watch the right auctions you can pick up some right old bargins. I would expect a £250 - £300 price tag off the shelf.

Do yrself a favour and use Linux if you have a 64 bit rig.
At least for now, even if you do switch to window$ when the new one comes out
/me bets it'll be slower than 32bit windows
I remember reading soemwhere that MS are not gonna make a big song and dance about Windows XP 64bit Extended Edition. In fact only going to release it on OEM ?
they're probably saving all the PR for longhorn then. I assume that'll have 64 bit out of the box... or would they write a 32 bit version too?
The only reason MS would release a 64-Bit only version of LH is to drive the 64-Bit market forward. It could be risky if they do actualy do this because practicly every one would need to buy a 64-bit computer just to run it. This could p alot of people off. So they will probably release a 32-bit system. People have had preview editions of it running on 32-bit systems anway.
My college has Longhorn at the moment (he works for Microsoft) and I must say it simpley appears to be XP - some new themes, and the possablity of more tool bars (and a minimal desktop)
the 64 bit support is very poor at the moment, and while I appriciate long horn is still very early in and these are development issues he's working it doesn't really seem a step forward.
It is Inevitable.....
