xp sp2 problem

i dont know if anyone else has experienced this and knows the answer but any help would be appreciated. i have install sp2 and all is fine no problems as far as i can tell. but there is one annoying thing that i dont know hot to alter. basically on the taskbar it used to show what programs where open as in i could have a couple of internet explorer pages up and outlook and i could then flick between pages using the icon in the taskbar. these are now not there and whenether i minimize the page i have no way of getting back to it. please does anyone know how to resolve this as its driving me mad.

typical good old microsoft, looks like sp2 is being uninstalled when i finish work then!!!

is that not a power tools program?

no its just normal windows, im refering to the icon to the right of the start menu, which appear when you have programs open

Just a thought; do you have the taskbar locked? If so, try unlocking it - it may be that something else is hiding the minimised programs. Also if you want to flick between different instances of, say, IE, untick the "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons" in the taskbar properties?

Can you still Alt+Tab between programs?

not sure on that ill have to try it, but i think ill just remove sp2. as ive also noticed dots in game graphics plus sound problems in games.

well alt and tab works but its not what i want ive tried uninstalling sp2 and its left it the same. strange. so im trying a reinstall see what happens. failing that ill do system restore or use an earlier back up drive image

The only other thing I can think of offhand is that there are a couple of reg hax to cause minimisation to the system tray, rather than the task bar - do you have hide inactive icons checked on the taskbar props?

have you checked for spyware, no being to silly, but my old man had some form of spyware which changed his toolbars and internet ex settings around...
