    Unhappy Outlook Attachment Problems!?

    Hi,

Ok posting on behalf of someone I know, they have this really annoying problem in which they can't open any attachments in Outlook 2003. . It won't let them view them or save them.

But yet he can send the emails to a friend with Outlook and they can view and save the file with no problems. This seemed to suddenly happen for no reason at all.

I have tried various things including editing in the registry the file types which can be opened (which I shouldnt have to do. .) But this only worked temporarily. . And then it went to back how it was originally.

But this is a really annoying problem as he is in an office situation and gets lots of emails including attachments which need to be opened. . and soo he is having to email them to another computer on his network to view/save them.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. .

    Thanks

I tried this program with no luck! As this is what happens.. I used the program opened Outlook and then I could open the attachments. I thought great!. .But then after opening 2-3 different attachments every attachment after that it wont let me open it as it comes up sayin 'Operation Failed'! . .

Then if I try and save the file I also get 'Operation Failed' once again!. .This seems to be a wierd problem but follows a pattern and when I first open Outlook I can open a couple of attachments then boom it says 'Operation Failed' and from then on I can't open ANY attachments at all. .

It's the most annoying problem and really he needs to be able to open attachments soo any ideas/fixes would be GREAT!

    Thanks

I would reinstall Office on that machine.

Every build I've done previous to this, and my current build, using Office 2002 and 2003 - Always DetachXP/Detach OL has worked.

It seems as if the registry is being re-written - You say this is an office environment... Do they have software delivery agents?

You could export the reg key into a reg file. Then he can run that every now and then when he needs to?

I have tried Detect and Repair with no luck. It has Service Pack 1 installed and all the latest updates.. But not service pack 2 as of yet.

I may just have to re-install office . . seems the easiest fix. If it works! lol. .

I'm not sure about whether they have software delivery agents would have to find out.

But unless I find another way quite soon I'll just re-install Office.

Anyone know what may of caused this? As it did work fine for ages then suddenly this happened.

    Thanks again for speedy replies.
