Can anybody recommend a freeware php editor.
I use dreamweaver mx4 at work mainly because it colour codes my syntax errors (which I am good at) so something that works along the same lines would be good.

Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
Used to use this but now use Dreamweaver. Well worth a look
Used Notepad++ a loooong time ago, not familiar with Bluefish
Ever tried Eclipse?
I haven't tried anything yet. I'm just doing some research so that I can sort of create an office type environment at home.
I could use the work laptop but because of the miriad security applications it takes ages to boot up, ages to open applications and ages to actually carry out tasks.
So I thought if I set up WAMP and get a reasonable text editor that recognises when I screw up syntax I would be in a good position to work from home whenever the hotdesking system fails.
I don't envisage that I would have to use this option that often so I'm not looking to invest in a "pay for" package.
I'm basically looking for some advice on the various editors from hexites.

Screw eclipse, its all about the jetbrains!

It depends really as to what level of extras you want. Personally I use notepad++ and have done for years now. Every now and then I will try a more substantial IDE, but I always end up going back.
I've gone with a dark theme to make it easier on the eyes when coding for a long time too.
