    Question Windows/MSN Messenger

I am currently using windows messenger, however, I would prefer to use MSN messenger as it has more features and generally seems more advanced than windows messenger . This reason that I am using windows messenger is that when I'm signed in, and open outlook express, it shows who's is on/offline in the contacts area. If MSN had this feature, then I would gladly download it, but as far as I am aware it doesn't .

Does anyone know of a way for MSN messenger to display who's online in the contacts area of outlook express?

Well, i suppose all messengers have that function, it is impossible how can you communicate with people if you do not see who is online and who is not. My MSN is now 6.2, i had installed an earlier version and it requires update from time to time, and as long as i remember it, it has showed who is online and who is offline. Try to install it, add your contacts and open the main window (from the system tray, everything like in WM). I hope, you will clear the things up.

Sorry, but you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick.

When I was using my parents windows 98 PC, outlook express detected MSN as being windows messenger. Windows messenger shows who's on and offline in the contacts area of outlook express, MSN doesn't (as far as I can see). I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way MSN messenger to show who's online in the contacts area of outlook express.

It's just because I've been used to it like that for years, and I prefer it that way, but it's not the end of the world if there's no way to do it.

If you still don't know what I mean, install windows messenger, and open outlook express.

(and I have tried "googling it")

    Give version 5.0 a try

Not going to say it'll fix all your probs, but it's much improved over 4.7

I know I could just download it and try it out, but could you explain the differences? Is it anything like MSN?

Right now, I've switched back to MSN, but I might return to windows if the features are greatly improved.

(Before you say, I have read the new features list on that site, but it seems quite technical, are there any obvious differences that make it closer to MSN?)
