Creative Suite 2 and a variety of other older Adobe software... FREE!?!?

It would seem this WAS a mistake on Adobe's part, and has since been clarified:

    Further edit:
    Discussion at the adobe forum.

I'm removing the link for now.

    Original post:

For those with an Adobe ID (registration is free), head here for a pleasant surprise:
    -removed-

CS2, Premiere Pro 2, Acrobat Pro 8, and Audition 3 all free. And this is straight from Adobe themselves!

I found this at the Cockos Reaper forums:
    http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=116147
Slickdeals have a long thread about it.

For those in any doubt, Adobe's own Jeff A. Wright posted here the following:

"Yea CaptainSmingey we are aware that the software is available for all users with an Adobe ID. Please keep in mind that due to the age of these software titles it is likely that they will not function properly on modern operating systems."

These apps have had activation removed primarily for users that are still on older licenses of Adobe software. There are "new" serials for each app on that download page, be sure to use these. Ladies and Gents, start your downloaders!

No, they're not free for anyone with an Adobe ID

Form the post you quoted yourself:
You will want to have a valid license for a software title affected by the activation server outage.

I've amended my post. Thanks for the thanks, chaps, but this still isn't entirely a clear-cut case.

They're not free, but Adobe recently stopped running the activation server for CS2, so some people have been able to call up and request a key fraudulently, but it seems quite hit-and-miss.
