Alcohol 120%/52% - worth the admission fee?

Okay, so I have nero...but I didn't realise until a few weeks ago that it uses proprietary .nrg formats (unless you really tell it sternly not to? Haven't played much...).

Went a-hunting (wanted a "proper" iso), found a demo of Alcohol 120% (probably linked off 'ere somewhere...) http://www.alcohol-software.com/software_120.php

Very nice! Then I discovered it also does virtual cds, ie, you can mount an .iso (and .nrg and.......all the other types) as a drive. Handy.

So, end user experience- worth the £31.odd for A120% or perhaps just £21 for A52% (which is basically JUST the cd-emu bit, not the burner)? I must say, I like it, and I'm getting to the stage where I WANT to register shareware because its "the right thing to do"...but thirty quid?? Nero only cost me £25! And that came with a box and dead tree and everything!

    Now, £7, £8 I don't mind....

Thoughts/reviews? Comparisons? Am I really too dull, submitting a post this long about a bit of software??

    A52% = CDRW only
    A120% = CDRW and DVD

And yes, they are both worth every penny, best 1:1 copying software ever made imo

i've used other software in the past (Blindwrite & CloneCD if people wanted to know) and Alcohol is the best of the bunch.

I use Alcohol 120%/nero 6 and cloneCD, all 3 are very useful but alcohols virtual cd is much better than daemon tools and i use it religiously. I love its multiple cd image formats it supports and I use Alcoholer along with clonyXXL to backup my games using alcohol instead of clony XXL to ISO format/bin format.

It's also very stable and more up to date than clonecd

Just in case you haven't already purchased (if not why not!), here's another hug vote of confidence for Alcohol 120.

Use it daily, for both the mounting of ISO's, and for burning.
The only time I use nero now is for doing multi file dumps; Alcohol is my primary burning tool.

It is a good piece of software, and worth the money I know loads of people are using it, although the thing that amused me is i used to use sometign called FantomCD and alcohol seems to be a complete rip of of it, maybe its made by the same company i dont know, the only other thing that puts me off the alcohol software is the crap name.
