Ok so I've redownloaded your "software", placed on root of C: and started the whole process again. Weirdly it seems to be working perfectly this time, no funny messages, has downloaded the helper files from MS, downloaded the image and updates etc and now is slowly patching the image. Will report back once complete but fingers crossed all seems good! I think the issue yesterday may have been command prompt not getting elevated privileges even though they were requested. i.e open as admin. as I'm not getting any DISM error messages which I did yesterday.

I tried to replicate this last night and couldn't. I downloaded the package linked and it all worked fine. It's probably something local

edit - I missed your message above. Good news

okay so yes it has worked whoo hoo !! Couple of questions though regarding the video, at the 7min mark I think you've made an error in your narration regarding which update image to choose. You say update one image when I think you mean update all images.

Secondly in the video you talk about intergrating drivers into the image via the drivers folder. I would like to do this (Lenovo T440 drivers for my laptop) can you provide anymore detail in lay mans terms? i.e. what format do they need to be in etc.

Finally thanks for doing this it's very neat.

    Cheers

Thanks - I'll check that. I'm planning to do a more condensed version anyway as I think I waffled on a bit.
I'll also do documentation at some point.

They need to be standard Windows drivers, signed. Simply copy and paste them / a directory of them into the drivers folder. It'll look recursively for anything it can integrate and should ignore anything it can't.

Some need to be 'expanded' for them to work.

I really need to do a guide to explain it properly.

OK so just tried it again integrating the Lenovo Enterprise driver package for my laptop.

    2 words - Supremely Easy!

Extracted the drivers and then dumped the folders into the "Driver" folder and then just ran the batch files again and reburnt to a USB stick. Reinstalled on my laptop and eh voila no drivers to load and only 4 Windows Updates to download. This works a treat, thank you.

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

    I use Update7v5 http://www.sevenforums.com/installat...ion-media.html

I haven't had the chance to have a go using your one yet but it looks to do a few things that wouldn't integrate using Update7v5 (IE11 for example). Its not as automated though if I remember rightly. You have to download the updates using WUD or similar and drop them in a folder. With that though certain updates would integrate but would make the install fail typically at the end of installation...
    (From Feb this year)
    Non security updates

    KB2823180
    KB2603229
    KB2533552

    Optional updates

    KB2819745

It does optionals as well I think, I don't think it does drivers though. You can do some registry mods with it too which it comes with by default, I just deleted them all and it all still works. ADM. DEF. SOFT. and SYS.REG

I just thought if you hadn't heard of it it might be of interest.

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

Just did it again without adding get other updates and it came out at 76 important updates and included. including SP1 this time?
Just clicked check again straight away and now 74 and SP1 gone.... like before. Also 35 optionals 34 languages again and just the update for win 7 this time.
Just did a restart and it said 73 not sure which went though and now after a recheck it says

There seems to be 74 listed in the post above even though it said 73. I will check it properly tomorrow to work out which arnt integrated

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

I think I've solved the KB2830477 issue (it works on the 32bit version, I just need to port it to the 64bit one)

Optional language packs I didn't do as 99% of people probably won't need them. I could put a question in though that simply asks the user and adds them in if they choose.

Silverlight I can make optional. I don't integrate it as I've no interest in having it installed, but an option wouldn't take a second.

Defender updates / Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool update too often. I'd need to be constantly updating the package as the URL changes. You'll always want the latest on a fresh install, so this is one thing I don't plan to do. Also, many people use other anti-virus.

As for the other updates...you shouldn't be seeing those. I've checked several of the ones you've listed and they are in the download / integration list already. I'm not sure if there is a different option you're selecting (you state the 'get updates for windows and other products from Microsoft update' - is this different to normal?) but they appear integrated my end.

edit - to be honest, if you're getting 7x needed updates, something has gone wrong with the integration I think.

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

DISM did report a couple of errors which I screen grabbed. I had a look at the dism log but as I am not familiar with it, it was hard to tell what was important or not.

I will try doing another run from scratch and see how it goes.

Just did another run this time downloading the ISO and after the processing of 262 of 262 it says Error: 112, then talks about where the DISM log file is. This happened in the
previous run also. I can only see as far back as 121 of 262 and they all go in as far as I can tell.

Error:87 and 0x80010105 which I get, I can see in your video.

Results for this one (Ultimate) after a restart and I get 81 important and 35 optional (this shows straight away without clicking update)
Didnt do anything but restart again I get the same, after clicking check for updates it shows 79 important and 35 optional. right before my eyes it dropped to 78... another recheck and the same.

enabling 'Get other updates from Microsoft' and I get 78 as before and 38 optionals with silverlight and security essentials listed.

on restart it installed 77 must have been downloaded automatically

Will retry again doing pro as per the video.
    -
Just did Pro and the same thing happened I thought maybe it was my RAM drive was too small but I upped it to 32GB and turned compression on. So I dont think it is a space issue unless it spiked and I missed it (I saw it hit 17GB)

I will run it on my spinner and see how it went next monday.

The install when building on a Hard Drive also has the same fate though with 96 updates. The Final ISO was about 100MB smaller than the last one I made.
It all looks as though its working in the Red cmd.

Just to confirm: x64 version, enterprise / ultimate, with the downloaded ISO?

The 'error 87' you're seeing isn't actually an error, it's just the result from no drivers to integrate (if you don't put any in the drivers dir, it'll say this).

As for the updates you're seeing....I'm at a loss currently. I've no one report the same issue and I can't replicate it . You're certain you're selecting the correct image number when doing the integration, and then installing this one?

DISM is quite verbose in telling you when there are issues, so if they are integrating, something really weird is happening.

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

Bookmarked for later Agent, i've got at least two installs coming up soon and plenty of time to muck about in VM's before then [i did have at one point every version of Windows from 3.1 running at the same time just for the lols SSD + 16GB ram nom nom nom]

I have a plain SP1 usb install stick with all versions of 7 in both x86 and x64 so this would save me time if the updates are in the install image rather then having to run them manually. Used auto patcher ect before but its so bloody slow.

I had a look a the lot of the neowin/msft guides on how to do this and just got lost which is why i've been doing it manually the only thing i did learn was how do get all version of windows in one ISO and how to combine both x86 / x64 into one install image.

I did the download version went for pro again (3). I will do the update all option which I haven't tried yet.

Any idea if doing all will require more space? I will try the 30 GB RAM drive again to try and speed or up.

If the same thing happens I will do a single update and save the DISM log.

It all looks like is has worked the image balloons to 4.7GB. I haven't tried not installing to a VM though. I will try at home some time and see if it's my work set up some how.

Took about 15minutes to download and integrate - I was expecting longer . Will test if it works in the next couple of days.

Final Image size for me (x64 was 3.2GBs)
