Ahoy MCSE's! Exchange backup trouble! :S

Hi,

I'm getting fairly desperate with my quandary with Small Business Server 2003.

Basically, I'm trying to backup the Exchange Folders in Veritas 9 and it continually fails - it says each mailbox is 0Kb in size and it says that it cannot find the file when it tries to back up. I do have the Exchange Agent installed.

Can anyone help? I can post logs and screenies if needed.

Which folders are you trying to backup? Veritas should show you the contents of the small business server along with the Microsoft Exchange instance & databases.

You trying to backup the physical files..? rather than using the agent & backing up the information store & mailboxes...?

OK, on a full system backup - all things checked it fails on the Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes. I haven't set any permissions as I'm not sure what ones to set. :O

If I drill down on the Source > Selections, I can view the mail folders, i.e. Inboxes on each user, even the messages are listed on the right hand side.

Everything else appears to backup fine but it continues to fail on the user mailboxes.

Hmm, how exceptionally weird! It seems to be working through the exchange mailboxes OK currently. More info as I get it.

Hmm, for some reason Veritas was scanning mailboxes that don't exist, or at least, a reference to them does but there's no data inside the boxes. I've unticked the bad references and I'll see how it goes now, as the backup mentioned in the existing message failed.
