    hi all
wondered if anyone can help with a problem im having, up untill tonight farcry would take about 6 seconds to load from double click to menu screen, now it takes about a minuit and a half ?????? its as if its taking the heard drive forever to seek the program, i used to load it through game jackal but took that off when this problem started, re installed farcry, patched it but still the same problem.
    can anyone help please
pc spec :- shuttle 5g5, athlon 64 3500+, 1 gig corsair ram (matched pair) seagate barracuda 200 gig and a radeon x800xt, windows xp pro.
half life 2 is loading ok, as is UT2K4
just went into add or remove programs, clicked on change/remove for farcry,
ran a repair, starts to reload but then hangs at "installing directx9"

Sounds like you scratched or got some muck on your Farcry disk.

backup your personal files, boot rom your os cd format the hdd, install the os, install all of your programs, put your personal files back on. It will even speed up your pc.

Before you do that are you sure it's not something simple like your HD is really really fragged or you have got spyware running in the background?

ive defragged the harddrive (the harddrive is 1 week old, thats why i dont mind wiping it and starting again) as for spyware, ive run a spyware scan and all seems well (pc cillin) it just seems that when i load, remove and reload the game its not loading like it used to. its worse when i load it for the first time from pc start up, takes a good one and a half minuits, if i exit and reopen it it takes about 6 seconds, seems anything that was previously loaded via game jackal is playing up.
i think ive got rid of game jackal (though who knows) and have tried running the game direct from the disc but with no improvement

To be honest on your spec it should be flying! If you don;t mind doing a XP re-install then may as well beings it's only a week old, could spend a couple of hours playing around with bits and pieces, but you could have done a clean XP install by then!

Check your running processes too... there might be something lurking there as other people have said. Give it a degfragment [Diskeeper is very good] and if need be format.

just loaded doom 3 and the same things happening with that too, the two games i had running through game jackal (too lazy to put a disc in the drive) so i can only assume it got something too do with that.
so it looks like a reformat.

thanks for your suggestions and help
