    Server Software

After weighing up my options I have decided to use Co-Location to host my dedicated server (it's a long story, don't ask)

It works out cheaper for me in the long run, but I need to know if there is any extra software that will be needed. (and how much it costs.)

The server will be a Dell PowerEdge 750 I think (haven't bought it yet) and will come with Red Hat Enterprise ES pre-installed. I am renting Co-Lo Rackspace with Supanames.

I have never used Red Hat Enterprise before so I don't know exactly what it comprises of, would it include software like cPanel and other such server related programs (like Apache, PHP, CGI etc)?

If it isn't included with Red Hat Enterprise, what other software is needed to get a web server running (it will need to have FTP, SSH, SSL etc) and how much would it cost to get it all (if it's not open source)?

    Thanks a lot,

do you real think it wise to use a system you've never even seen before as in a datacenter ?

Redhat enterprise will give you a login to the redhat network which will allow you to download any of the officel redhat rpm's you may need, apache/php/openssl/mod_ssl/mysql/sendmail etc etc etc

What it comes with as default will depend on dell's install image not redhat.

As this is going on the internet I'd advise you to get it setup will and locked down pretty quick.

If you want a hand drop me a note.

I've done a ton of these and if your new to redhat you may struggle with its little "features"
    It is Inevitable.....
