I really don't havea problem with spyware any more because I simply don't install hundreds of 'free' utils and click 'yes' without thinking every time a webpage pops up a question. That and using Mozilla. I used to have to go into msconfig every few weeks for a clearout - I've found over time if you just show a little foresight the problem doesn't happen.

Having said all that, having to clear out muck infested PCs at work I've found the MS thingy the best.

I voted other no singularly 'best' anti-spyware - some are good for some things, others for others. If I had to pick a general, I would say use firefox over IE.

I clicked "Other". And the other is me. I am the best anti-spyware for my computer.

Seriously, I very rarely get it as I don't visit dodgy sites anymore and I too learned to read things before clicking "I agree"! It's not that hard...

But, I do have MS AntiSpyware BETA and Ad-Aware installed and run them every once in a while, they rarely pick anything up.

Don't have a software AV program installed either, or software Firewall, my Router takes care of those things. Use Housecall every once in a while, haven't picked up a virus for months (touch wood).

Microsoft Anti Spyware (beta) seems to be the best IMO, after running Spybot & Adware on loads of machines at work ive gone back and run Microsoft after and its found quite alot more... Shame they are going to charge for it when it comes out of beta,

And you thought M$ would do anything different? They charge a fortune for unsecure software then charge you more to try and make it safe!

I have always run Adwarre and spybot S&D
    - But last week i had a popup that got though both (nerver had that ii over 3years)

    - So i instlled the MS one, which was useless (all it wanted to get rid off was VNC)
    - I i isntalled A-squared. Work a treat, quick, easy, and found the blighter.

So no i'll use all four, with the MS one runnin in the back gorud

I have been to all kinds of seriously dodgy sites, and tried my damnedest to get infected with anything, I have no Spyware or Anti virus and in 4 years I have never been hit with ANYTHING on that PC.

Saying that, its my Atari TT and it cannot understand any form of scripting and can only run basic HTML.

The PCs on the other hand, are covered by AdAware and Spybot S&D and NOD32 and I am happy to say that very few things getby them, I also run a clean up every day, just in case!

Do Apple computers suffer from spyware?

At the mo I am using MS Beta until I have to pay for it. Then I will go back to lavasoft ad-aware and spybot.

Don't use MS Anti spyware if you have Panda Titanium or Platinum 2004 on your system as it messes up your tcp/ip stack and corrupts Panda, we discovered at work.
M$ are working on it ......

I use Spybot S&D mainly cause it's free, but it works really well and has good regular updates. Ive never had any trouble with spyware in the time ive been using it.

I'm Spybot S&D, AdAware Free & MS/Giant Beta. A combination of the three and I feel safe.

I use FF, don't visit alot of dodgy sites and lock down my browsers alot and only lower the security if I know precisely what it is I'm on. I don't install lots of free apps. only respected stuff and I still get stacks of it.

My bro. and IE user with minimal dodginess and a normal security never picks anything up.

You could create a local group policy to define what apps you want to run and create hashmaps... I really dont see the point in spyware apps. Hint to all, don't login as an administrator and keep your browser secure!
